Zafrani Mughlai Chicken Recipe

Zafrani Mughlai Chicken recipe is a stir fry chicken recipe from one of the many delicious Indian recipes. It uses chicken with yoghurt and fiery spices that make this chicken recipe a special occasion dish. Zafrani (saffron) chicken has a yummy taste, as it gets its taste from chicken mixed with yoghurt and chilli powder. Zafrani chicken has been inspired by many people within the home.


  • Chicken breast fillet 750 gm
  • Yoghurt 4 tbsp
  • Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Ginger paste 2 tbsp
  • Red chilly powder 1 tsp
  • Saffron, a few strands
  • Cashew nut paste 6 tbsp
  • Cooking oil 5 tbsp
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Cloves 6
  • Onion 7
  • Salt to taste

Preparation of Zafrani Chicken:

Add the chicken in a pan and mix the yoghurt with it. Take a portion of the ginger garlic paste and mix it with the chicken and yoghurt. Add salt as required along with the red chilli powder. In one tbsp of warm water, dilute the saffron and add the entire content into the chicken mixture. Leave the mixed ingredients in the fridge to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Now, in a thick bottomed pan, heat the oil over a medium flame. Add the bay leaves, clove and the onion paste to it and stir fry for about 4 minutes. To this add the remaining ginger-garlic paste and the marinated chicken pieces. As the chicken is cooked, turn of the flame and add the cashew nut paste. The final dish should contain very little gravy.
